AVANCE is a national nonprofit organization that focuses on early childhood education and parenting education, specifically within Latino communities, to support families on their journeys to economic mobility. Since 1997, AVANCE has served more than 9,000 children and caregivers in El Paso.

Guests will enjoy an unforgettable evening of refreshments and networking with the AVANCE familia and our El Paso community. Our program will unfold with remarks from our event chair, former Texas State Representative Ina Minjarez, followed by a presentation honoring Dr. William Serrata, President of El Paso Community College, and a special proclamation presented by El Paso City Councilman Dr. Joshua Acevedo. The event will also feature a heartfelt testimonial from Denise Enriquez, a 2022 AVANCE to College graduate who is graduating from EPCC this year with a Criminal Justice degree.
Honoree
William Serrata, PhD
Dr. William Serrata has been the President of the El Paso County Community College District since August 2012. Under Dr. Serrata’s leadership, EPCC has been recognized nationally on several occasions for its impact and outcomes in accelerating Latino student success. Dr. Serrata is an active member of the El Paso community and currently serves on the Boards of several local, state, and national organizations and institutions. As President of EPCC, his leadership in higher education has also been recognized at the local, regional, and national levels.
