From Vision to Reality: What We Can Build Together

The recent opening of the Esperanza de Tejas Resource Center marks an exciting new chapter for our organization and the families we serve across South Texas. What began as a grassroots effort to meet immediate community needs has grown into a place where families can access essential items, educational opportunities, workforce support, and connections to community resources, all under one roof.
This milestone would not have been possible without the partnerships and leadership development opportunities that have helped shape our growth, including our involvement with the Power Building Collective of Texas (PBC).
Through PBC, Esperanza de Tejas has had the opportunity to learn from nonprofit leaders across the state who are committed to creating stronger, healthier communities. The Collective has provided access to funding opportunities, advocacy training, peer learning, and meaningful collaboration that has strengthened our ability to serve families. As a founder and CEO, these experiences have helped me grow as a leader while ensuring the voices of South Texas families are represented in statewide conversations.
We are especially grateful to AVANCE and Dr. Teresa Granillo for their leadership and commitment to family-centered solutions. AVANCE has long been a champion for children and families, and through the Power Building Collective, they have created opportunities for organizations like Esperanza de Tejas to connect, learn, and build power together.
As a Latina founder and CEO, it has been incredibly meaningful to be surrounded by leaders who understand the importance of community voice, collaboration, and investing in the next generation. The relationships built through PBC have not only strengthened our organization but also helped turn projects like our new Resource Center from a dream into reality.
Our Resource Center is more than just a building. Its opening is a celebration and reflection of what can happen when organizations work together, share knowledge, and invest in one another. We are grateful to AVANCE, the Power Building Collective of Texas, and our fellow nonprofit partners for helping us build a stronger future for the families we are honored to serve every day.
