El principio de AVANCE<\/h2>\n\t

En 1972, dos estudiantes de posgrado que trabajaban bajo la direcci\u00f3n del Dr. Urie Bronfenbrenner pusieron en marcha un Programa Madre-Beb\u00e9 en una comunidad latina del sur de Dallas, Texas. On August 29, 1973, Dr. Gloria Rodriguez became the first Director of the AVANCE program in San Antonio. AVANCE was incorporated as a nonprofit organization a little over two weeks later on September 14, 1973. The first AVANCE classes in San Antonio were held at the Mirasol Federal Housing Project on San Antonio’s west side.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"every-story-768x384\"\n\t

AVANCE pronto se encontr\u00f3 en la necesidad de sostenerse por s\u00ed mismo, ya que la financiaci\u00f3n de la Fundaci\u00f3n Zale se termin\u00f3 en 1975, lo que oblig\u00f3 al cierre del sitio de Dallas poco despu\u00e9s, en 1976. Throughout AVANCE history, the organization has earned broad recognition from various sources. Notable visits from national and international dignitaries include the Reverend Jesse Jackson, King Charles III, Oprah Winfrey, and former U.S. First Ladies Rosalynn Carter, Hillary Clinton, the late Barbara Bush, and Laura Bush. AVANCE has been featured in the New York Times, NBC’s Education Nation, ABC’s World News Tonight and Good Morning America, along with several social documentaries such as Ounce of Prevention, Scared Silent, and No Small Matter. Other distinctions include Best Practices Award from the Texas Association of Parent Educators, HEB Excellence in Education Award, Simmons Luminary Award for Educational Excellence and many more.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"prince-charles-cropped\"\n\t
