AVANCE-Houston is preparing for its 2026 Inspiring Dreams Luncheon, a signature event celebrating nearly four decades of service to Houston families. The luncheon will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Omni Hotel, bringing together community leaders, corporate partners, and philanthropic champions to celebrate AVANCE’s mission and the families we serve.
The event will be co-chaired by two exceptional leaders whose professional influence and community commitment align deeply with AVANCE’s values: Sara Montelongo-Oyervidez, Public Affairs Manager at Valero, and Cathryn Martinez, Government & Community Affairs Manager at Calpine. Their leadership underscores the importance of cross-sector partnership in expanding opportunities for parents and children.
A centerpiece of the luncheon is the runway presentation, featuring AVANCE children and alumni whose stories illustrate the lasting impact of early childhood education and family empowerment. This year, the runway will include special recognition of an AVANCE child who has achieved national recognition as a dance superstar. The honoree’s name will be announced at a later date.
This year’s honorees include H-E-B, recipient of the Chairman’s Award in recognition of the company’s long-standing partnership with AVANCE and its enduring commitment to strengthening families throughout Texas. State Representative Christina Morales (District 145) will receive the Community Leader Award, honoring her legacy of public service and the impactful work of the Morales Memorial Foundation, which continues to expand educational access and empower communities, particularly in Houston’s East End.
Anayeli Ruiz, reporter with KHOU 11, will serve as emcee for the event. Her credibility, storytelling, and connection to the Houston community will help elevate the program’s message and mission.
