AVANCE’S Mission is to unlock America’s potential by strengthening families in at-risk communities through effective parent education and support programs.

We envision a future where we live in a world where children and parents advance to their full potential, transforming the communities in which they live.
Program
- Services for Families: The AVANCE program is a two-generational approach focused on the family and centered on the child. Parents and their children both benefit from participation.
- Parent Education Component: A three-hour, weekly session for parents, lasting 9 months – usually September through May. Different groups of parents come every day. Consists of:
- Toy Making Class (1 Hour): Parents construct toys for children that will aid them to “learn through play.”
- Parenting Education Session (1 Hour): Parents gain knowledge regarding child growth and development and that they are their child’s first and most important teacher!
- Resources Speaker/Nutrition Class/Library Visit, etc. (1 Hour): Introduces parents to an array of community resources. Exposure to these services & providers increases likelihood parents will seek them.
- Early Childhood Education: Provide a stimulating and caring environment for children while their parents attend class.
- Teachers develop and follow daily lesson plans
- Lessons are designed around monthly themes and units
- Children are grouped according to age
- Home Visitation Component (1 Hour): 60-minute observation of a parent-child play activity, conducted once a month. Scheduled by appointment.
- Transportation Component: Service provided to help parents and children get to and from class. Supports field trip activities.
- Food Service Component: Parents and children are served nutritious meals and snacks.
- Adult Education Component: ESL and GED classes followed by college enrollment information and assistance.
- Special Events and Holiday Celebration: Recognize that family activities “can be fun” and educational!
- Advocacy: AVANCE staff aids parents in addressing the special needs of their family.
