AVANCE took part in the global web-cast on the Latino Education and Advocacy Days (LEAD) Summit on March 28th.  The Summit drew attendance from over 195,000 viewers from across the globe and AVANCE was one of the 1,300 viewing sites.  On that same day President Obama held a town hall on Latino Education in Washington DC.  This event was broadcast live and also streamed over the Internet.  These events are part of the White House Initiative on Hispanic Education – to promote awareness on the plight of educational problems facing the Latino community, to start a dialogue and find solutions to the high drop out rates amongst Hispanic students.

AVANCE was featured in the news by several media outlets that covered the events.  Above is the video clip from Univision and AVANCE President and CEO, Rick Noriega,  was also featured as part of the LEAD’s White House Forum on Obama’s Call to Action.  The culmination of these events brought attention to problems facing the Hispanic Community and set the stage to getting America back on track as a leading country in Education. As of 2008 America ranked 18th.
